Travellers
are very clear: 2014 is the year to visit Fuerteventura. The island and in particular, Corralejo,
appear amongst the top 10 destinations in the world that are worth visiting, according
to the users of Tripadvisor (Destinations
On The Ride - Travellers Choice).
The
beauty of the coast, the volcanic scenery (the island has 24 volcano’s), the majority of which can be visited using
the upgraded and well sign posted hiking trails, the spectacular beaches, the
sports such as kite surf, the proximity to Lanzarote and the Island of Wolves,
are some of the characteristics mentioned by travellers that make Fuerteventura
an essential part of travel plans for the next holiday in 2014.
If
we compile a list of places to visit in Fuerteventura it is inevitable the appearance of names such as Costa Calma and the peninsular of Jandia, the capital - Puerto del Rosario - with the incredible carnivals, the natural area of Betancuria, the Malpais Grande, Tindaya, Corralejo and the marvellous sand dunes.
Fuerteventura
hides unique landscapes beyond the traditional touristic routes and has
attractions and proposals of leisure activities for all ages: zoo, water parks, handicraft markets full of local products, nautical schools, marinas, diving and kite surf schools, Spanish language schools and everything that one could imagine to complete a personalized trip, different and full of experiences to be remembered.

Plans in Fuerteventura
To
organize excursions and activities in Fuerteventura and achieve the maximum
during the holiday, you can consult ideas and the diary of the web site of the Cabildo
de Fuerteventura (above all for official acts and events), the
selection of leisure plans on
the Fuerteventura tourism web site or the complete guide to Fuerteventura leisure and culture, where
you can find everything from sporting events to gastronomic recommendations.
One
of the classical events that take place in Fuerteventura is the carnival of
Puerto del Rosario, ideal to start the year with good rhythm and in summer, the
variety of parties, concerts and shows make it difficult to decide which ones
to choose. For us one of the great
cultural events that has taken place in Fuerteventura during the last few years,
is the Fuerteventura Music Festival, an event which has been
celebrated for a decade on the expansive La Concha (El Cotillo) beach at the
beginning of July.
Surf
classes at the 7 Island school in Corralejo or at Surf Camp in Morro Jable is a
perfect plan if you want to experience what it is like to ride the perfect
Atlantic waves on a surf board. There are intensive classes for three days or weekends and there is also a possibility of a one week course complete with accommodation on half board.
Regarding accommodation, Fuerteventura has some of the best beach hotels in
Spain, highlighting in particular the establishments in the Jandia
peninsula, where the price/quality factor has been finely adjusted above all
for those travelling in groups or with the family.
Hotels in Fuerteventura |
Some
of the most
recommended hotels in Jandia are the three Iberostar Hotels &
Resorts in Fuerteventura.
* Fuerteventura Palace
- Ideal for couples travelling with or without children.
* Playa Gaviotas - Excellent situation next to the Matorral Beach.
* Playa Gaviotas Park - Next to the
previous hotel but focusing specifically on
children, with specialized
services for them.
In
the centre of the island, the best option for accommodation is in Puerto del
Rosario.
Although
the capital is always slightly more expensive, the difference in the price is
the amount that can be saved on transport for your movements throughout the
city. A car is not needed when you go
out at night or on shopping trips, you do not need to worry about anything.
In
the north of Fuerteventura, the ideal area for accommodation is Corralejo. Outstanding here are the Grandes Playas
hotels, of the Atlantis chain, such as the Gran Hotel Bahia Real or the exclusive luxury hotel Barcelรณ Corralejo Bay.
